Now that we have made our way around the country, it's time to circle back to our own backyard. This week, we are exploring the best BBQ joints on the West Coast. First up, is Portland Oregon.
1. Holy Trinity BBQ, Portland, OR:
Their website reads in big leaders on the homepage, "Only Texas BBQ in Portland," and the ratings back that statement up. The owner grew up outside of Dallas Texas, and when he arrived to Portland he immediately saw a market for authentic BBQ. Holy Trinity offers brisket, pork ribs, burnt ends, and sandwiches. This restaurant will definitely fulfill your craving for authentic BBQ.
Next up, we have Phil's BBQ, located in Point Loma, San Diego. They have an event center for hosting parties, great merch, and catering. Phil's has been open since 1998 and are known for their friendliness and consistency. They are big on philanthropy, and opened a Resque Ranch in 2014 which is a non-profit. Phil's not only serves top tier BBQ, their mission is backed by action to make the community a better place.
Smoking Mo's motto is "peace, love, barbecue". They have been open in 2007, when they first moved to Washington from Southern Carolina they missed the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork from back home. They serve comfort food with a side of craft beer. There is also live music on some nights, making the experience fun for the whole family.
4. Storrs Smokehouse, Newberg, OR
Storrs first opened in 2014, and has quickly become a local favorite. They offer traditional BBQ with high quality ingredients. For dessert, you can get a scoop of fresh homemade ice cream. They are also known for their smoky local meats paired with Oregon Pinot Noir BBQ sauce.
5. The SmoKING Ribs, Garden Grove, CA
Many happy customers are calling SmoKING Ribs the best BBQ in OC. They offer all of the classic menu items such as ribs, sandwiches, wings, brisket, etc. They are located in a strip mall with a down to earth settings. If you are looking for quality BBQ in California, they are a great option.
