East Coast BBQ Road Trip:
Pack your bags and fill your tank because we are going on a summer road trip! Baseball BBQ will be taking you on a virtual tour of the best barbecue joints across the United States. This summer, we will be posting each week about the top places to visit in each region across the country. This week, we are focusing on the east coast.
Hudson Smokehouse opened its doors just a couple of weeks prior to the pandemic, but that didn’t stand in the way of their success. They offer delivery for customers in the area and deliver 300 meals per day to the World Central Kitchen for those in need. They believe that nothing brings people together like food, and are the only Smokehouse in the Bronx.
Fette Sau opened its doors in 2007. Their style focuses on heritage breeds of meat that are raised ethically with no antibiotics or hormones. They have some non-traditional items as well including beef tongue and veal heart for the adventurous eaters out there. To pair with the BBQ, they offer locally crafted beers. Their restaurant provides a progressive and welcoming feel in the big city.
Hoodoo Brown BBQ, Ridgefield, CT
It’s not easy to find destination BBQ in Connecticut, but Hoodoo Brown is the exception. The owner, Cody Sperry, toured over a dozen famous BBQ joints in Texas and apprenticed for Big Green Egg smoker before finally branching out into his own business in 2015. Happy customers rave that their brisket, spare ribs, and pork belly are next level. If you find yourself in the area this summer, be sure to check them out.
Spring Creek BAR B-Q, Monson, ME
Their website is quaint and simple, but their flavors are not. Spring Creek BAR B-Q is a hidden gem in Maine, an unlikely place for stellar BBQ. Their ribs, mac n cheese, juicy burgers, and homestyle desserts are well worth the road trip. They are a community staple and have been going strong for nearly two decades.
This top-rated BBQ joint in New Jersey focuses on Texas-style BBQ. They offer a variety of meats, including brisket, sausage, and ribs. They also make hush puppies, fresh cornbread, and desserts such as sweet potato pie and chocolate bourbon pecan tart. If your mouth isn’t already watering, it will be once you look at the photos below.
